Obama Then, Obama Now
Obama-mania has swept the country; throes of Americans are excited about the entrance of a strong African American candidate in the presidential race. Unfortunately, a fair deal of this excitement only comes from looking at him as a charismatic, attractive fresh face, without much familiarity with his positions on the issues or capacity to the do the job of the president. What has Obama accomplished that earns him your vote? Does his experience measure up to those of his competitors?
In a February 9 interview with The Politico’s Roger Simon, Obama modestly stated, “I’ve written two best-selling books that probably give people more insight into how I think and what I care about than, perhaps, any presidential candidate or potential presidential candidate in history.” Today, The Stanford Review’s Chris Seck and Jason Dunkel take a closer look at Dreams from My Father and The Audacity of Hope to see if Obama lives up to the bar he has set for himself.
