Amidst signs that Stanford is still predominantly left-leaning, campus discussion of controversial issues is thriving.

Left-wing bias

So far, roughly 70% of Stanford’s private donations to 2008 presidential campaigns have gone to support democratic candidates. The final proportion in the 2004 race was 92%.

Lively Debate

Jay W. Richards, Christopher Hitchens, and Ben Stein arrived on campus this weekend for a Review-co-sponsored debate on the scientific evidence of intelligent design which promises to be one of the largest speaking events of the year.

Special Fees

The last day to acquire Special Fee refunds for this quarter was January 25. As another quarter passes, students will once again foot the bill for many frivolously subsidized group expenses.

Campus Dialogue

During the week of the 25th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, both the campus pro-life group and the campus pro-choice group held peaceful demonstrations in White Plaza.
