I write for the Stanford Review because my political philosophy is conservative, and I believe one of the great experiences of university life should be joining in the free exchange of ideas and opinions. The Review expresses conservative viewpoints on a very wide variety of issues. Any casual and objective reader of the major media, as well as the Stanford Daily, will be hard pressed to find our viewpoints represented. That is a shame: good newspapers by definition should be balanced in the presentation of both news and opinions. In the absence of that ideal, however, the Stanford Review fills what would otherwise be a vacuum of presentation and explanation of the conservative perspective. Writers for the Review find they have many choices about what to write, and how often. I hope the Class of 2009 takes the same opportunity I have enjoyed in becoming a contributor to the Stanford Review.
